South China Morning Post, The University of Hong Kong and Citigroup
jointly present

The South China Morning Post and the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Hong Kong are launching a brand new series of Business and Economic Policy Seminars, beginning in September 2004 and extending into 2005. This Series aims to provide a more research-based angle to business issues today, and in turn generate a balanced discussion between business and academia.

The Series would identify key business-related public policy issues, deepen people’s understanding of key issues, raise awareness of all sides in the debate, and form some meaningful policy and business implications.

Themes for 2004/05:

Airport Privatisation – September 15, 2004, Hong Kong
Securitisation – Can it work in Hong Kong? October 14, 2004 Hong Kong
Hong Kong Port - Does it have a future? November 23, 2004, Hong Kong
Tax Reform - March 3, 2005, Hong Kong
Reform of HK Electricity Sector - April 18, 2005, Hong Kong
Healthcare Funding Reform - May 19, 2005, Hong Kong

Each seminar would take the form of a panel discussion over a 3-hour session in the morning. A pair of experienced moderators will work together to ask questions and react to statements from both the panelists and audience. The invited panelists will be policy makers, business leaders, thought leaders, analysts or academics from Hong Kong and abroad.

All seminars will be presented in English.
